Pears have a cooling thermal nature. They help to eliminate lung heat, and moisten the lungs and throat.
Ingredients:
4-5 medium pears peeled (any variety)
2 Tbsp. coconut oil, butter or ghee
1 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven at 375 deg. F. Cut pears in half and scoop out core with spoon or paring knife. In a large baking pan (preferably glass) melt coconut oil (butter or ghee) so it just liquefies—place the pan with oil in the oven as it preheats to melt oil. Coat the pears with the melted oil on all sides, then set the pears in the pan, skin side down. Drizzle the pears with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover the pan with tin foil and bake for about 30 minutes or until pears are soft—very ripe pears may need less cook time. Let cool for about 10 minutes. Slice the pears and toss them in the sweet sauce in the bottom of the pan. Serve by themselves or eat them with oatmeal, with ice cream, or with Cornish game hen if you are feeling fancy!
