I truly enjoy working with children! Their unique and honest perspectives of the world and their sincerity of expression bring me so much joy. Through having my own child as well as working as a tutor and a nanny for many years, I have spent a lot of time with children. I have a keen sense for what they may need to help them feel at ease. If a child has previously had negative or scary experiences with healthcare providers, I am here to adjust to their needs and work with them on their terms, developing a trusting healing relationship.
Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine can be very helpful for children! Acupuncture is not generally a painful process, so many children enjoy receiving treatments and appreciate the benefits. If a child does not want acupuncture, other tools like massage, non-insertive needles, cupping and guasha and herbal formulas can be used. With so many tools to choose from, we can fit the treatment to your child's specific needs and comfort level. Acupuncture benefits children just as well-and sometimes even better-than it does adults! Children's young bodies are quick to respond to healing stimuli and they tend to notice results from acupuncture and Chinese medicine quickly. Within a few treatments, your child's health concerns may be resolved. His or her optimal health can be maintained by lifestyle and dietary recommendations and an occasional acupuncture "tune-up" to stay in balance. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are beneficial for a myriad of health concerns including digestive upset, respiratory issues, rashes and itching, ear infections, cold and flu, sleep disturbances, emotional concerns, physical trauma and injury and more. Acupuncture supports the body's own healing mechanisms so it helps to regulate and strengthen all body systems and harmonize their activity. Acupuncture is safe for children. I am trained and experienced to work with small people and I can adjust to their unpredictable behavior. I only use the healing tools that I understand to be appropriate for an individual child. I respect each child's experience and only do treatments that they and their parents are comfortable with. Your child will develop their expectations about acupuncture based on what you express to them.
